I hate... HATE national politics but this one really made me lose my lunch.

On no, there's no media bias, no "messiah complex". I'm about ready to build that cabin in the woods and stay there for awhile. Good grief. If you ever needed proof, here it is:

- A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government strong enough to take everything you have. - Thomas Jefferson
- Meat is murder... tasty, tasty murder. - a really sweet t-shirt
- Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for yourself.

What bothers me is the lack of spelling and/or punctuation.

If Obama doesn't want to spend then he needs to keep risk involved in America.  A market without risk (the government standing there to bail us out at every hiccup) is a market waiting for doom.  You already saw what happened with the belief that every American should be entitled to own a home.  We saw the government basically pressure banks into providing loans to people not ready to shoulder the burden of budgeting and paying their bills (especially their mortgage).  We see it in many other areas.  I laugh all the time when they say it is a lack of regulation.  COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The United States is one of the most regulated countries in the world.  Unless, of course, we want to compare it to a communist nation...but we are catching up.  The good news is we have reasonable regulation (some of it is ridiculous but some of it is needed and fair).  When you allow things to operate without risk involved people make poor decisions much to often.  That sets up the door for consequences.

Some blame it on Wall Street for bundling the home mortgages and selling them as securities and the whole nine yards.  If the government basically forced banks and other lending agencies into providing loans (and incentive to do so I might add) what would you do??  Tough question to answer isn't it.

This all started with the housing debacle and nothing.  I repeat NOTHING is being done to stop that.  Carter, Clinton and Bush held us hostage and Obama isn't going to release us.  His answer is to put a band-aid on it by creating more "affordable housing."  See, there we go AGAIN!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....yup I just did what the title of this talk forum is!

Anyway, the quote linked to is just a warm up for the phrase called "tax raise."  Our government will soon be attacking those that were either lucky, fortunate or down right dedicated.  Those folks are the ones that own businesses, make good decisions, etc.  Not to mention, they are mostly the entities that create jobs and spend.  We are punishing them for their success.  Things are definitely going to get interesting.  And PLEAAASSEEEE spare me that idea that we are taxing the greedy.  Come on people, there will always be the fox types in the chicken coupe.  Trying to stop them is a waste of time.  Usually, the fat cat gets lazy and screws up and suffers the consequences.  If we let jealousy cloud our minds we are no better than them.

I must say, that is an interesting picture they captured. The Presidential Seal kind of gives him a halo look... maybe it's the whole "Messiah" thing that the photographer was trying to capture. LOL!

As for me I am not in the least bit excited about OBAMMUNISM!

In August 1987, President Ronald Reagan appointed (an abosolute idiot) Alan Greenspan chairman of the Federal Reserve Board - what you felt following the appointment was a roller coaster. Your in the drop cycle now - put your hands up and scream - how does it feel??? Mr. Greenspan modified the old policy of the fed. Which needed to be done - but the the new policy was worst than the old ------ if a recession is brewing (and somebody needed in office),
Stay thirsty my friends

I agree to an extent.  Lots more involved though.

And my party has been dead for a while.  Too many fakes posing.  Problem is, they pretty much had to because many people living in the United States are soft and want to be taken care of.  Politicians love those types...

Will Newt try running in four years?  Who knows, he probably sold out too.

Guys,

The link I posted has nothing to do with the text. THEY GAVE HIM A FRICKIN' HALO IN THE PICTURE! Just in case you needed any further proof that the media is completely and totally convinced that this guy is the Messiah. For reference, here's another link you might take a look at if you just don't see the resemblance:

Tim,

Specifically adressing your first comment on the Executive branch putting pressure on the mortgage lenders, leading to the doom we are in today.

Nobody forced the people (homeowners) that signed those loans to take a $185K loan when they could really only afford a $125K loan.

We, the 'people' are as much at fault as the government in this housing mess. Even more specifically, the 'people' of our (you and me) generation are right in the middle of it all.

Until WE take responsibility and accountability for that, it won't get better. Instead, it is easier for our generation to blame Bush, blame the banks, blame the government, etc.

It's sickening.

I think all this blame put on the housing issue is just a smokescreen. The real blame comes from the so called free trade agreements. The USA got screwed over big time and no-one is willing to admit it. It started with Bush-1 then Clinton and then Bush-2 pushed it to new heights. People just couldnt see paying $1,000 a month rent when you could buy a house for $1150.00 a month, and then figure in the fact that home prices were constantly rising, it looked to be the right thing to do. Then the decent paying jobs disapeared, and you got trouble.
