Luveyes, my buddy has a warrior and it literally gets stuck on top of trees and is difficult to get off. We even had to get pulled off by another boat before. yes it is a deeper boat and that is also a factor. Heavier boats are less manuverable and less forgiving in trees. With that being said, I would still rather have his warrior than my crestliner for sure. Just something to consider if you fish in a lot of heavy tree areas on DL.

re: glass or aluminum

posted by: Tim Sandstrom. And hey, I will just say this. Just about every single boat manufacturer that is out there currently makes a very good product. Aluminum, glass or rolled aluminum. They are boats that obviously have survived the tests of fishermen and economic times. Although, the economic climate might claim a few...yet to be determined!
re: glass or aluminum

posted by: Tim Sandstrom.
Deldonk Said:
I love when this conversation comes up every year. People get so concerned about getting wet on the water and which boat is the "dry one", but no boat is a dry boat and if you are going to spend 20-40 grand on a boat shame shame on buying some $200 rain gear.

I learned a lesson. Don't buy anything but the best and most expensive rain gear. And yes, point well taken.

re: glass or aluminum

posted by: Goosefishmen. No question I would go glass, and that price range I would go used. Remember when you buy a new boat that is only the beginning. Trolling motor, depth finders, rod holders, and kicker will add another $5000 fast to the price. You can get all that stuff on a used boat ready to hit the water for your price range.

I base more of my decision on layout than the dry boat debate. Room to move around, seat location, rod lockers, windshield type, and the pimp factors(style and look).

re: glass or aluminum

posted by: simmsjs. Fished the threes in Devils all weekend, hit a few trees and never got stuck. My buddy and his skeeter where hung up on a tree, his keel gaurd stuck to the deadhead. lol

re: glass or aluminum

posted by: Deldonk. I have a Lund and like it but man can I get wet on occassions. Right Tim!! My next boat will be glass and probably a Yar-craft or I'm becoming more intrigued by the Lund line. In comparing ride, you can't beat a glass boat IMO. I also think aluminum boats get pushed around a lot more in the wind. They just don't sit down in the water like the glass boats do and can get hard to maneuver. Yeah, Yeah, Tim will say better buy a tiller. I just get to disoriented fishing backwards all day!
You don't fish backwards. I go the same direction everyone else does...in the direction they want their boat to go.
??????? What does glass vs aluminum have to do with bouncing off of trees, stuck on logs? Glass may have gelcoat scratches (usually easy to buff out) vs aluminum being more forgiving, but how does glass get stuck on logs more than aluminum? It would depend more on the amount of hull in the water vs hull material. Just confused me; teach me I am learnable.
