With you guys with tracks what do you like to see for power would a 420 honda have enough power i read on mattracks website that they give you power. I also have a 500 rubicon what would tracks be like on that machine. I would like to have tracks on both the 420 i use for ice fishin cause it fuel injected and the 500 rubicon i use for pushin snow which tracks would be awsome for that job. What do you guys with tracks think of them?

re: ATV tire pressure

posted by: nickf21. i treat tracks like tires, if you need 4wd use it, if not 2wd, diff lock works fine also when u need it, pulling or getting unstuck. I lose about 30% of top speed, which for me is still 40-45mph. fast enough for ice fishin, shed huntin and just messin around in the snow.

I will never go without tracks on an atv again.

re: ATV tire pressure

posted by: buzz1. I have only sold 2 RTVs with Mattracks, but we recommended only using 2WD on dry surfaces and only engaging 4WD in conditions that will allow the tracks to slip (mud or snow). The tracks cut your travel speed about 40% and require a lot more power. We suggest that you think about adding a turbo charger to your diesel UTVs to offsett the increased power requirements needed.

re: ATV tire pressure

posted by: Horsager.
buzz1 Said:
All of the manufacturers that I have dealt with over the 40 years that I've been in the outdoor power & equipment business reccommend never to chain the front tires on a front wheel steer vehicle. The front wheels have to travel a lot farther during a turn than tthe rear wheels do. When they are chained down on all 4 corners, that will putt a massive strain on the transmission and driveline. You should only chain the rear tires on an ATV. If you have a 4 wheel steer or an articulated steer unit, it is permissable to chain all 4 tires if needed, because the front and rear tires always travel at the same speed, on the same side of the vehicle. It is not even recommended to chain the front tires on a skidsteer loader, and if you install over-the-tire tracks, you must remove the front drive chains, so that only the rear axle is driving the tracks. If you want to avoid those big repair bills, leave the chains off of the front tires on your ATV's

Along those lines, what about running an ATV in 4wd or diff lock with mattracks?
re: ATV tire pressure

posted by: buzz1.
