Need lead for melting...

Anyone know where to get some in bismarck, fargo or jamestown for a reasonable price? I used to be able to pick some up at tire places, but none are giving/selling it anymore. They all have other people who collect it. Porter brothers in town used to sell, but they wont sell to the public anymore either. I checked Dakota Tackle but they are charging 3x what the supposed market value of lead is right now.

Any suggestions?

Ebay has some decent buys here and there, just watch the shipping costs.

Also if you know of some old hospitals or clinics that had X Ray machines in them most had the walls lined with lead.  You might be able to go in there and get it.  I know of a guy that took it out of the New Rockford hospital.  Make sure you get permission first!!!!!

Go to tire stores and see if they have leftovers to buy or sometimes they may even give them to you.

Tire store wheel weights work fine.  Amazing what a dozen doughnuts will get you at them....  I had enough lead for 3 years of jigs and Pinewood Derby car weighting with 1 stop at a local tire shop.

YES, I am that foolish!

stop by any tire shop bring a small coffee can and tell the guy  you will give him 15.00 cash to fill it   I have 3 in Minot.  all the shops that handle batteries keep the wheel weights for the salvage buyers.  I have been casting bullets and running short on lead so I switched to lynotype until Iget more lead.  the wheel weights are really poor lead and you will have to be heavy on the flux
I have been using 1/2 lead and 1/2 lynotype for now  little lighter bullet instead of 190 gr they are comming in at 186.4

Ill have to check some more tire places, I stopped at 2 yesterday that gave me old weights in the past and both told me they were giving them to other people now. I found a guy on craigslist that is willing to ship lead for $1/lb in a flat rate box, still kind of expensive but at least its all melted and clean and he says its soft lead, not alloy.
