Morning,
I am starting a new job in mid-March and am looking for a place in Minot/Minot area.  I know housing is tight, but if you know of a place or someone looking for a roomate, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Chris

Look at www.bismanonline.com.  Check it regularly since rentals usually don't last very long these days.

a friend just rented an apartment in Minot...he ended up having to go to the big rental mgmt companies (don't know the name, probably in the phone book), fill out an application and wait in their office while they run a credit check before even showing him a listing, then he had to pick one sight unseen on the spot or they were gone to the next person in line.  good luck!

We waited the last 8 months to get in our apartment.

Hope you are going to make good money, my family and in-laws that live there says that rent around town has at least doubled if not tripled. When I visited for Thanksgiving the traffic was bad, my sister tells me that it was the new normal. Use to take 15-20 minutes to get from the end of north broadway to the end of south broadway when I lived there, now it takes at least half an hour if you are lucky and hit all the lights. Bumper to bumper from light to light in the middle of town at times. Minot's infrastructure hasn't kept up with it's growth. Good news from my in-laws that live down on the corner of 6th St and 2nd Ave NW is that contractors are buying up homes down in that area and remodeling. Word is the houses will be rented out or resold. Good Luck!

Coming from someone who's lived here his whole life, it's never been this bad and it still isn't. The traffic is bad, don't get me wrong. But I can still make it from North Hill by the Job Corps Center to where I work near KMart on 20th ave SE in exactly 10 minutes. All the time.

This town better get it's proverbial head out of it's you-know-what. Like you said, infrastructure is pathetic, and then the flood didn't help things out at all either. I'm to the point where I'm almost embarrassed of my hometown.

SMASH!!!

Auggie, not sure if you're in the market for a house, but if so, I've got a place for sale out in the country near Minot (about 20 minutes away) if you're interested.  It's listed on minotsells.com (MLS # 20111912) but contract with the realtor is almost up and I can offer you a better deal FSBO.

he wants a quarter mill for the house and 5 acres   lots of hrs per month just to make a payment after taxes let alone the price gouging and taxes Minot gets
Live 30 minutes out of Minot so plan on making 5-9 extra trips to Minot for something you forgot at ND gas price gouging add up the money and you could almost double your monthly payment for all othe expenses.  you better have a really damned good job maybe even get a second job

Yes, I do want what the market commands.  Sorry, that's how real estate works.  You can go pay $2000/mo rent/house payment downtown or about $1500 for a house/land.  The real beauty though, unlike people who live downtown Minot, is that I can just step outside my front door and go shooting, hunting, snowmobiling, ATVing, and all kinds of other cool things.

You stated that the realtor contract is up SO it is higher than the market commands OR someone thought they would take advantage of the people in the flood area that are in need of a home.   I can see this is normal in the MInot area.  Get gouged on gas, taxes, propane, housing you are just following everyone else.

The house came off the MAFB (the ad said that) for cheap add a basement, water, sewer and you got yourself a home.  but a price gouged house, just my opinon get all you can and enjoy the profit.  If you notice I don't like the leach realtor
