Photo Description:
I have been using something similar for pike with good success but they are too small and the hooks break when you get into a big fish. I built these, hope to try them soon.

Re: I'd run a split ring into the top hole as well. They look about like a Gem-n-eye but they should have quite a bit more "flutter".

Re:My only concern would be the weight of them(looks awefully light). Should do fine in water 10 foot and under, though.

Re:Yeah, I wasnt sure if that would be necessary, but I had thought about it. These will be used primarily for pike. I used #4 blades to give an idea of size. Will hook a couple big minnows through the tail to give it some action under water. These will be used under a leader. I have moved away from wire leaders for pike and Im now using 65lb super braid instead. I havent had a fish cut it yet, but after I catch one, I do inspect the leader and retie if it appears frayed. It is a lot more supple than wire leaders and you dont end up with all the bends/kinks either. |
