Lake Sakakawea - Friday, January 1, 2010

Report Details
 Skunk Bay

Fishing slow this past weekend. Some fish were caught but the fish didn't even seem to be moving much. Access is limited with ATV and UTV's being able to get around some but getting stuck fairly often, especially if towing any sort of trailer. Would be very difficult to get a large house on the ice and portables are recommended.

Ice is 14" in the bay  and in quite a few areas but thinner in others. There is some significant slush between the snow and the ice in a lot of areas so be aware and stay alert if you venture out. Most ice however was quite clear and appeared to be healthy, water clarity is also surprisingly good. Can see down about 20' if in a house.
