I was delivering furniture out in a small town near Minot on Monday.  As I walked into the house an older gentleman informed us that the little boy (his grandson) was getting a new bed and he was pretty excited.  We pumped up the little guy reving him up to see the final product once it was assembled...As I walked in and out of the house bringing in bed parts, I noticed the man sitting in the recliner in the livingroom.  He looked framiliar.  Not recent framiliar, but I knew I had seen him before.

I couple more times in and out of the house, and I stopped and told him that he looked framiliar...like I had seen him on television.  He said "I'll give you a few minutes to figure it out."  His name never came to me, but his face was unmistakably in my memory from somewhere.  His daughter came in and spilled the beans.    He came upstairs and told me about his career to try to jog my memory.  This man was a quarterback for several teams in the NFL, coached the Cincinatti Bengals and he and his team made it to the Super Bowl!  I watched that game! He also coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He told me that he understood that I was probably more of a Vikings follower and that I probably wouldn't remember much of him. He asked me if I had ever "booed" him, and I said that I am not one to boo people.  I thought, "well how do I remember your face if I didn't watch you and your team frequently?"  I apologized for not being able to come up with his name, and asked if he would give me an autograph anyway. He said he would.

We finished the bed and prepared to leave. He grandson was all smiles.  I said it was nice to meet them all, and started to back out of the door knowing that I still did not have his autograph...he stopped me and asked if I still wanted the autograph, and I said grinning, "SURE DO!"  He signed his business card and handed it to me. I gave him one of mine in return,  I thanked him and we left.  Nice guy. Small world.

His name is Sam Wyche.

Skeeter is the 79 the year you graduated? I agree about the great people of Velva.
Did you know my cousin, Marty? Older brothers Steve and Keith, one sister, Pam.
