Did anyone see the fight on versus last night.  It was for a belt for a league merging with UFC.  But anyway if you didnt watch ESPN today it is the second play of the day in the top ten.  The kid ran up the cage all matrix like and then punted the guy in the face it was crazy..

Pettis is a stud. Going into the fight I was thinking Henderson was such an amazing athlete that he would keep his belt and Pettis was going to have to work to keep from getting submitted. Pettis just rocked it though, stayed calm, great game plan and then the "Showtime Kick" as he named it. All of us watching went "WTF!"

He practices it, and says he has even more than that in the bag.

Talk about good execution...

Respectfully disagree. That kick was born out of Chris turning his back to his opponent. It's just a head kick, see em all the time.

I've only seen someone jump off the cage and headkick a guy in mid-air once.

it was a cool kick, but i do have to ask this question, shouldn't this be an illegal move.  I only ask cause he used the cage to his advantage by using it to jump off from, i mean if you can't put you hands on the cage to lift up off the ground, then how can you use your foot to aid in a kick.  just asking a question anyone have an answer, by the way i didn't watch the fight, just the highlight,  so that is why i am asking on here

What was the #1 play of the day some 6ft 6in guy dunking it?

You are not allowed to grab the fence but you use it for leverage. It's common to see guys on the bottom use the fence to try to spin themselves into a better position or for guys to wall-walk by putting their back to the fence and get themselves back to standing.

i mean i know you are allowed to use it for leverage and to wall walk to try and get back up, and all that,  just wondering if it was legal to use to jump off of, would think i would be like an unwritten rule of the don't does like grabbing the fence, just wondering

I would kind like to know how you get knocked down after getting kicked like that.  No way the cage offers that much support for proper planting, delivery and carry through for a powerful kick.  Or maybe all the ninja moves we see in the movies really are that powerful?

Henderson tired or what?  Did the bell ring at that instant or was the fight called?  Thought it went to a decision.  I admit ignorance as I haven't had cable for three months.

If you watch it a couple of times he doesn't jump of the fence as much as the bounces off of it. The compresses his leg when he hits the fence and the kick comes from that leg and hip.

Watch Henderson's arms I think it might have been a flash knock out. His arms go limp and are at his side as he goes down.

Not all knockouts from from power some are a matter of where you are hit. I think that was the case in this fight. Also Henderson could have never seen that kick coming which is a factor as well.

The kick happened with about a minute left. If you see some longer clips Pettis moves in with some hammer fists to try and finish the fight but Henderson rolls over and grabs a leg and that's pretty much the end of the fight.

What he said.... It went to decision and Pettis got it. If you go to the UFC website you can see a video from earlier in the week at open workouts where he was practicing the kick. There's plenty of power there, Henderson's lucky he got caught by Anthony's foot because he said he was trying to catch him with the shin but came up a little short.

Henderson did look a little whipped at this point in the fight, as you can see his hands were down and he was sucking air pretty good. Not to take anything away from him, I would be tired in 1 minute in that octagon, let alone the 24 he was when it happened.
