Did anyone catch Doug Lier on the radio today, a friend called and told me that they heard him on the fan 740 talking about a 25% drop in doe tags for this year? I hope that is true

Not exactly sure what the final numbers will be, but I do know that Randy Kriel just finished the proclamation and put it on the Governors desk for his signature. They were talking something like 25,000 fewer tags statewide I believe.

there are going to be 35,000 less deer tags this year than last year and this is coming directly from the public relations of the ND game and fish department.  They were up here at the college last week doing lectures for earth day and did a segment on the deer season.

Good. This is coming a year or two later than it should have. But atleast they finally realize that deer numbers are way way down.

All I know is that I have not hit a deer driving in the last two years; prior to that  I was averaging at least one per year. I personnally like what I am seeing in my area and lord knows it's ALOT cheaper on my wallet!!!!!!!!

Good Luck and Good Fishin'

This will not be a 1 or 2 year deal folks. The game looks at their goals and objectives relating to the deer season as a 5 year plan. Sure, the number of tags is going to change some from year to year, but the objective is going to be to get the deer numbers back to where farmers and hunters are both satisfied. Get used to lower tag numbers for the next 3-4 years atleast.

2 Years of decent winters and the numbers will be back up.  The 5 year plan is just that, if they seen a significant increase in population next spring the numbers will come back up.  5 years and everyone will be allowed to purchase as many does tags as possible again. At least in the area I hunt, don't know about the rest of the state.
