Ok you Crank Bait Masters just doing a little research for the heck of it.

Not concerning yourself with color or style, what manufacture of crank baits do you fish with the most?

Casting?
Trolling?

For me it's Salmo across the board.

You?

I'd have to say my number one is Rapala overall. Which type of lure depends on where i'm fishing.

That would be for casting and trolling.

But if it's a deep  bite I usually use bombers as my #1 choice then reef runners.

For the record, those aren't mine.  I have virtually no original floaters.

Rapala for everything shallower than 20'.  @ about the 20' mark I turn over to Bombers, Reef Runners (and Cabelas imitation Reef Runners), Yo Zuri or Smithwick, about in that order.

I really don't have a favorite to tell you the truth.  If favorite means less tuning then have to go Rapala/Salmo/Bomber.  The ones I run most often overall are the Reef Runner Ripshad 200's, Salmos, and Bombers for mid range depths.  If going shallow, it's Rapala SR5's, JSR5's or 4's, Frenzy's, and Ka-booms.  Depths greater than 18 ft. find me using Lead Core more now days and running Rapala's or Bombers and Reef Runners if Fireline.

It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Raps from pulling and casting.

Have in the past had some luck with Salmo and Reef Runners, but as they tend to be a little trickier to tune I don't often use them.  I may own only 6-8 reef runners right now and one salmo.  And about 100 raps.

Even have a few Frenzy cranks, but not much luck on them for me.

I use Reef Runners the most.  They are a pain to tune sometimes but catch more fish.  Rapala is # 2. If you were to narrow the discussion to shallow minnow style baits then Rapala would be #1.

Rapalas the most.

Reef Runners a close second then Flicker Shads then Salmos.

Usually changes for me from one year to the next.

Rapala #1 for me in most situations.

All is relative.  Sakakawea often leads me to:

Shallow Cranks:

Jointed-Rap
Shad Rap
Rip Shad
Flicker Shad
Salmo Hornet

Medium Cranks:

Jointed-Rap
Rip Shad
Little Ripper
Bombers
Deep Husky
Hornets
Flat As

Deep:

Deep Husky
Bombers
Big Reefs
Rip Shads

And then cheat with snap weights or lead to get whatever you want down.

But most or actually basically all my cranking is via trolling.  Think the bomber and reefs among others will be in force this year on the big lake.  Might have to experiment more with the lead too as fish will be cruising smelt country and not hungry...gonna neat to get reaction bites.

When the water temp warms up a little bit, it's hard to beat the Wally Divers, or the Scheels knockoffs called Tournament Cranks.    Other than that, Rapalas for trolling or casting with Countdown Raps and Husky Jerks.

As a general rule, my go to baits are:

Original Rapalas shallower than 6 feet
Shad Raps and wally divers from 6 to 12 or so
Bombers, Reef Runners from there down.

If that doesn't work, I throw the tackle box at'em to figure out what they want.
If that doesn't work, I throw the 24 pack at myself..........that always works!
