Hi guys,

 I am wondering if anyone who has posted an item for sale either here, nodakoutdoors, or bismanonline has been scammed by someone claiming to be Thomas Chad Wiley, or by any other alias for that matter? I recieved multiple emails from this person requesting suspicious information. I got a very suspicious check in the mail for $1800 over the amount that I was selling my item for, which he claims I am supposed to send to his shipper via Western Union. Anyway, I didnt fall for it but I was curious has had the same experience.

Nope I haven't yet. Sure sounds like your deal is a scam though. Guessing that check would bounce pretty hard.

send it to the 5.0  that is definately an old arse scam.  i remember there was a crapload of that going on and it was people from some other country doin it...  whats the name of his shipper?

the idiot will send you a money gram look on the back it will have a toll free number on it then it is fake.  just play along with him.  He will want you to western union money to Nigeria  just ask him if it is his brother who got you for 50 bucks and you need that first before you can do business.  that scam has been around since the 80's

Here is the last message I recieved. Is it worth it to even report them?

"I am happy you recieved the payment at last,however you are to deposit the Check and then withdraw the excess $1,800 in cash and have it sent to my shipper via Western union money transfer which is the safest way of sending money worldwide. I will so appreciate if you can do that today before leaving town so that he can commence pickup arrangements as i have a whole lots of other items to pick up around you and i dont want any delay whatsoever. Here is my shippers information to which the remaining cash of $1,800 will be sent.

NAME: CRAIG BERGSTROM
ADDRESS:3757 N Blackstone Ave,

Fresno, CA
ZIP CODE: 93726

USA

I am aware of the western union charges which will be deducted out of the money you will be sending back. My shipper will then come in person for the collection of the bow at your place. I hope you will complete the transaction with me in good faith, once you have sent the money kindly get back to me with the following details

Senders name and Address

Amount sent after western union charges

Western union control number) MTCN NUMBER

And all the details which you used in sending the money to my shipper. I look forwrd to your response soon.

There was no return address on the envelope and it was post marked in Portland Oregon.

is there a bank name on the check?  if so look them up and get a number off the internet and call them, ask if they have anybody by that name banking with them,  if they say no then tell them that your local Police Department has a check that they might be interested as it is fraudulant....  definately need to get the police involved...

and FYI that address for Craig Bergstrom is a hotel called the Four Points by Sheraton maybe you should call them up and ask for Craig Bergstrom... see what happens.

 The checks are fake.... and Western Union has a fraud dept. that will contact you.  By the time the money is transferred you'll be out the money and you'll have no reprieve getting your money back.   

That has been on the news for a couple of years warning people about the fake checks.
