Any guesses when the ramps in and around Bismarck will be open? My first prediction was the 19th. Weather should cooperate this week but I am not sure if it will be enuff.

Wonderful Reagan quote that says it like it is! "It isn't that Liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so much that isn't so."

I'd be pretty surprised if anything's open by April 1.

I'm going to file my keel sharp and use it as an ice breaker if the ramps aren't available by the 1st!

Getting a little antsy for some open water.

I'll guess they'll be open around March 25.   The river is open bank to bank to about five miles south of Washburn, and there is a center channel cut as far as the Wilton ramp area.   Things happen pretty quickly at this point, and the open water can move several miles in a day.  We need to avoid the extreme cold temps to keep from refreezing.

April 15th Beaver Bay will have access. I doubt there will be any ice around by then.

After driving by and over the river this morning, one can't help but get a little excited by seeing more open water today than in the previous days. Baring a major snow event and major drop in temp, I think about the 24th-26th.

As of this afternoon, the river is wide open fifteen miles north of Bismarck. The temps are cooling a little over the next few days so it will slow things a bit, but the river might be ice free at Bismarck by Sunday.

What's the hurry?  Water will be too muddy to fish anyway.

It won't be too muddy until the tributaries start pouring in, especially the Knife River.
