2006 Chevy Trailblazer HELP

I have a 2006 Chevy.  The codes show the O2 sensor is out.  There are two O2 sensors, one in front and one behind the converter.  Being laid off, I need to save some cash and do this myself.

1.  Do you need a special tool?
2.  How do you reset the check engine light?  Can you just unplug the positive on the battery?

Any other hits would be great.

U should not need any special tools to take it off. If u take your car to most parts stores they will be able to reset your computer for free. Just dont take it to a dealership. I know advance auto would let u use there computer. But they are not open anymore. I would call napa or a other store to see. Hope this helps.

u can reset the check engine light by disconnecting battery cable for a min.  o2 sensor should come out with a box end wrench like maybe a 21mm

Reset the computer by removing the battery cable for 2 mins.  Do this before changing sensors, as it may have gotten wet, and tripped the light.  If it comes back on after resetting the computer it is bad.  Test first, and then replace.

If it flies it dies!

Disconnecting the battery on a 2006 will not reset the codes. That worked on older vehicles, bit not anymore. If you repace the o2 sensor and that is the problem, the light will eventually go out, it takes a set number of drive cycles without a fault to turn the light off, or you have to have it reset. Good luck.

You're right on the nose. Up to 50 drive cycles with no re-occuring problems within that time frame of drive cycles. One drive cycle is from key off to engine start and run till warmed up then off again.

I carry a gun cuz cops are to heavy.
